Fairly new to the Craft Beer Scene here on the west coast we have Bomber Brewing in Vancouver, B.C. Opened in February of this year. Melissa found some of their beers at Cascadia and so tonight I have the pleasure of trying out a brand new IPA
There has been a lot of hype in the craft beer world because like anything you love, you should get excited and talk about it everywhere because it’s about a group of guys who grew up playing hockey building a friendship that would eventually lead to a dream and then a reality! For more information about the brewery and it’s starting line please check our their Facebook page linked above and their website at www.bomberbrewing.com
Todays beer is Bomber Brewing’s IPA
Hoppy? – Yes, but it is well balanced IPA with a nice malty body so not overly bitter
I love a good IPA and have heard quite a bit about the beers from this brewery since they opened the doors in early February 2014 and this one definitely lived up to the hype. As soon as I cracked the can open the fresh citrusy hops aroma became immediately noticeable and when I poured it into my glass it was a delicious blast of hops and malty goodness with a nice darker amber color to it and a solid two fingers of head. The head dissipated rather quickly and it had a little legs too it but it is a can of beer so I think it’s all good. The flavor is nice and clean with a floral, grapefruit notes to it and then moving into a slight caramel and bready flavor finishing with a hint of bitter. I do get some light bitterness all through the beer but it has a really nice malty body to it to balance out the beer.
I would definitely recommend this beer to hop lovers, and if you’re curious about trying a lighter style IPA this would be a great example to help showcase the west coast flare without a dirty gym sock in your mouth.
I will definitely be buying this again!
