Melissa and I attended the fourth annual Hopoxia yesterday hosted by Phillips Brewing Company and it was amazing!
This year there was some new brewery’s attending this year including Bomber Brewing, 4 Mile Brewing Co., Barkerville Brewing Co., Cannery Brewing along with The Moon Under Water Brewery & Pub, Hoyne Brewing Company, Driftwood Brewery, Swans Suite Hotel & Brewpub just to name a few and they all brought there game face this year! When Melissa and I arrived there as a pretty large line up but they pushed it through amazingly fast and within 20 minutes we were in the lineup buying some more drink tickets before we dove into the hop heads paradise lol.
My main focus this year was towards the new brewery’s and try out there offerings and they were all quite nice and hoppy within there respective style choices. (unfortunately I did not take any notes of the beers or styles) except for one that I poured half out and that was from Four Mile Brewing. I found it to have a grassy aroma and taste like plastic band aid’s, it was really bad and I found it very challenging to quaff because of the severe amount of DMS in it. (just my thoughts, I could be wrong)
This year Taco Justice League was also in attendance providing some amazing food along with Discovery Coffee with a portable barista trailer for all your coffee needs and some ATM’s on the back. We didn’t use either of the venders however I am a huge fan of Taco Justice’s offerings and Discovery Coffee definitely brings the A Game when it comes to hand crafting a fresh coffee starting with the care and attention to selecting the beans and how they are roasted to the actual production of each beverage. If you have not tried either of these company’s offerings I strongly recommend both of them! grin emoticon
Also I should mention Joe Wiebe – Thirsty Writer was in attendance this year again but on a more relaxed level enjoying the offerings. Last year he was promoting his book Craft Beer Revolution (A highly recommended read)
The over all feeling for Hopoxia: Awesome! Mel and I definitely had a great time, and we picked up some cool swag from some breweries while we were sampling this years hoppy offerings and saw a lot of great friends too! Phillips Brewery really knows how to put on events and this year was a definite showing of that.
Thank you to all the brewery’s for your offerings and especially to Phillips Brewing for hosting the event! We are definitely excited to come again next year!
