A big shout out to InkBird for sending me this controller to use and put through the paces for my fermentation chamber build. (I will get a post up about that shortly) They thought that it would be a great option for what I was building and it’s really proven to be a solid controller.
This controller had 6 separate temperature options over 6 periods of time by the hour or even day if your going to be heading out of town or something. I really like this feature for the fermentation chamber because if you have to be away from home for any period of time you are able to ramp up or lower the temperature as required and not have to worry about it. I had the unit running for a couple of weeks over a range of temps and wasn’t able to trip it up so then I finally brewed a Belgian Blonde Ale and have had it in the ferment chamber for the last couple of weeks at a nice range of 19-21°c.
The controller also has a start delay on it so it protects the fridge or freezer motor and compressor allowing for a longer life of the unit. I am currently running a AC unit on my fermentation chamber and have disconnected the thermostat control so the ITC-3010 controller is in charge of it and it has had no problem.
I have not adjusted the calibration of the temp controller because it’s not really something I am terribly concerned about, however that being said the overall operation of the controller is extremely simple. The instruction manual is a small pamphlet but has a diagram with prompts on the controller and what they do. I had this controller set and programmed with a 6 day cycle in about a half hour after opening the box, however I was playing around with different settings as well.
This product was shipped to me for review purposes and so I have tried to put it through the paces as best I can with the equipment I have and it has preformed outstandingly, the only problem is I broke the hanger for it. It’s a rigid piece of plastic and I snagged it on the hook I hung it on and cracked it, thankfully it is just plastic and completely cosmetic but other then that there is no real con’s that I have been able to find. Over all I am extremely satisfied with this controller, I plan to do some lagering soon as well and with the control options I will not have to stress about the increasing temperature over the days as it ramps up to the warmer end of the ferment and it is a very simple plug and play controller at a great price.
Thank you very much to InkBird again for sending me this controller, it is definitely a very welcome addition to my equipment and with the fermentation chamber up and running it has definitely helped to raise the bar to the next level with my fermentation!
