Hoppy? – no
So after my tour I picked up a bottle of Maibock from Lighthouse Brewing because I have never tried it yet, and I don’t think I have had a Maibock before either So it’s a win-win situation.
I was pleasantly surprised, when I opened the bottle it had a nice malty and slightly spicy aroma too it, it was really quite interesting and even seemed a little sweet smelling and it poured a nice golden amber with a thin layer of head on top.
The label states that this beer is brewed with a trio of Munich, Vienna, and Pilsner Malts which really give it a very nice malty flavor profile and a midrange mouth feel. It was very interesting to taste with toffee, and citrusy notes and the Hersbruck hops gave it a nice spicy twang.
Definitely a very enjoyable beer and I would definitely recommend it to anyone because it is a well balanced malt forward beer with a light amount of hops to balance all that malt flavor out. Very well done, and I would definitely buy this again.
