Mint Stout Dry Hop Addition – 3 Days
Today I pulled a sample of the oatmeal stout and it is very enjoyable, well balanced, and the flavors are clean. I’m definitely very impressed so far and really look forward to getting this into a keg! One thing I forgot to do is write down the gravity, so I will not post that today but I will once I keg this beer.
For the “Dry Hop” addition I have picked all the mint leaves off the stems because the stem will not add anything to the stout, and then gave the leaves all a good tossing about and crushing while spraying with Starsan to sanitize before they are dumped into the fermenter. This mint is very fresh, and extremely aromatic so I will pull a sample in 24 hours and see how the flavors are coming and currently this is scheduled for a 3 day dry hop but the beer will tell me when it’s ready.
The last batch of this recipe brewed we intended to be a few days but ended up being much longer and thankfully the only issue was the mint was much stronger then it was intended to be and it worked out very well.
