I just picked up the grains and yeast to brew a Mint Oatmeal Stout on Monday. This is going to be the first brew day since the store has re opened and I’m definitely quite excited. I was on hand when Rich brewed this recipe and aside from a few hiccups and a massive stuck sparge it turned out quite well.
For this recipe we are going to add some more flaked oats to promote a little more head retention and help to round out the body, and I am going to dial back the mint a small amount. The feedback was very positive, but i feel that the mint was a little too overpowering and reminded me of cough syrup.
