Phillips Brewing Company Winter Snowcase Day 10
Phoenix Gold Lager
This beer was the very first beer I tried from this brewery in 2004 and I knew good things were coming. At The Reef Victoria where I was working as the Sous Chef under Chef Kat Duncan and she introduced me to it even. I believe Blue Truck (Now called Blue Buck) was her favorite but phoenix was a strong second.
This beer pours with a golden yellow color with a fairly decent head to it and some grassy, and earthy aromas from the hops. It doesn’t really smell like anything too amazing on it’s own but when you have your first sip and you get the caramel and biscuit from the malt it just brings it home. Again with a grassy and earthy flavor and a slight bittering on the end of your pallet. Very enjoyable and refreshing any time of the year.
I would recommend this beer to anyone who likes craft beers, as it is refreshing and crisp with a nice hop profile and simple grain bill. A good staple for any beer fridge rotation IMHO.
I would definitely buy this beer again!
