So here is the follow up review from Melissa and I’s night out to The Moon Under Water Brewery & Pub where she picked me up a growler filled with:
Experimental Session Lager #1
Hoppy? – No, it’s coming in at 14 IBU’s so it does not have any noticeable bitterness too it, but it has been “dry hopped” which will impart some good aroma and a bit of flavor too
Unfortunately I did not read anything about this beer anywhere outside of seeing it on the menu at the brew pub and thought oh hey experimental beer, I love the sounds of that lol so I really went into this blindfolded. But I was very happily surprised, when I took the cap off the growler there was some grassy, earthy aromas to it and it reminded me of when I was a kid running around on the mountains and fields in Sooke growing up. So then I poured it into my fancy new piece of barware Melissa also got me with the growler and it pours a very faint yellow (my stage did this no justice) and crystal clear with a low level of carbonation and a nice thin layer of white head that dissipated reasonably fast releasing the nice hoppy aromas.
The first sip definitely caught me off guard, I was not sure what to expect and this had a very clean slightly grassy taste to it and a slightly sweet finish.
From what I have found online this beer is a Kellerbier Style beer that has been dry hopped with Citra Hops. So with that in mind, I would definitely recommend this beer to anyone looking for something nice and easy to enjoy for a bbq or casual beer with some good hop flavors and none of the bittering or high abv.
I would definitely buy this beer again!
Ps. this is now my favorite glass I think haha
